I suck at this but that's about to change!

Wow! I should really try to post more than once a year! Not kidding.

Here is your 2014 recap since last year at this time until beginning of this school year:

Kenna=finished freshman year, took drivers education class, passed, drives all the time, I now have a permanent chauffeur, had a boyfriend, dumped the boyfriend (yay!), got a pretty regular babysitting gig

Koen=finished sixth grade year, played baseball and wrestled, chilled out a lot with his friends and little brother

Kammie=finished up third grade with one of the coolest teachers ever, played soccer, softball and wrestled, enjoyed cooking class, sports and recreational games at Summer Rec, and swam a lot

Kampman=finished Kindergarten, played soccer, T-ball and wrestled, he enjoyed Summer Rec classes for Kindergarteners, and of course swam a lot, and I mean A LOT!

Jed and I went to Aruba in May. Jed earned the trip through his company. It is now the number one destination I have ever traveled to. Yes, it tops Jamaica and Europe. And it only tops Florida because of the sunsets and less people.  It was relaxing and oh so very beautiful. Someday, I'd like to return.

Our entire family traveled by car to Orlando, Florida in July. We stayed in a vacation home with my parents, my brother and his two kids, my sister, her husband and their five kids. Yep 18 people in one house.  Seriously, it was like the show "19 and Counting"

We had a blast. Went to Disney four times, Daytona twice, Clearwater beach once and Sand Key beach once. On the way home, Jed took a flight so that he could return to work, and I drove with my dad, Kenna, Kammie and KJ.  Koen went on to Washington DC with my mom and brother and his kids. Our vehicle stopped in Pensacola, Florida (again at the beach) and at Duck Commander Buck Commander in West Monroe, Louisiana.  It was a great trip and I hope everyone has memories to last a lifetime, because I'm not sure I could ever do it again.  But remember, Never say never!

Let's see here, I think we are through the first half of 2014. So now...

Kenna is a Sophomore! A SOPHMORE!!!! Where has the time gone? She was just in Kindergarten yesterday, right? Already she hates this school year. She is suffering from sophomore-itis. It's a real thing. I googled it. Don't believe me? check this out:

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=sophomoritis See? Told ya. So, sophomore-itis.

Now Kenna is not suffering from the I-don't-give-a-care part of it, just the I-am-a-sophomore-and-no-longer-matter-in-the-high-school part of it. Poor sophomores. They are totally ignored. Last year they were fresh meat, now they're chopped liver. I've been trying to explain to her that it's just a right of passage, but she just keeps coming back with "It's just not fair!" Oh, the fairness of life! She'll get over it I suppose. We all did, right? Kenna is part of the yearbook this year. This means that she will be taking pictures and writing articles and creating layouts for the school yearbook. So far she has taken pictures of the football players and at a dance. They've been working on the yearbook and she has to assist with all of the group organization photos. As far as I can tell, she likes it.

Koen is a 7th grader now. So, where Kenna is feeling left out, Koen is making up for it by finally being included in the school. He played football this fall and loved it. Despite the fact that he was one of the smallest on the team. Fullback and linebacker were his positions, but later in the season he moved from fullback to the O-line. He also moved in jersey number this year. He went from #39 to #33. It's not that he didn't want to be #39 anymore, the 39 jersey was size XL. So in order to not be swimming in his jersey he had to switch numbers. I got used to it about the time the season ended.  We are officially in wrestling season right now. He has wrestled for the junior league for the past 3 tournaments, but is really super excited to wrestle for school beginning January 5th!

Kammie is a big ole 4th grader and having a blast. She doesn't have any of her girlfriends in her class this year. I'm actually happy with this though because she needs to branch out and make other friends.  But no need to worry, because her two best guy-friends are in her class. Okay, who are we kidding, this is Kammie, definitely worry! She played tackle football again this year. Of course she loved it and hated that it ended, but one of the best things was that her dad coached her team. I'm not sure if he thought it was the best thing or not, but I did. ;)

KJ is a fulltime student for the first time in his life. Yep, a big 1st grader. The first day of school he told me that he didn't cry for me but almost did one time. He's only been sent home with three notes for talking and one for not being respectful. (This is also for talking when it is the teacher's turn to talk.) So, basically, talking is our issue so far. No big surprise there. There's a meme out there that says, "Dear teacher, if I sit next to my best friend I'll talk to him, if you move me across the room, I'll shout to him.  It's your choice..." That's KJ to a Tee.

Kammie and KJ are also wrestling with the
Mulvane Junior wrestling Club and Kammie is playing softball for the Wichita Elite team. So, needless to say, we are at wrestling practice or confirmation class or softball practice or Pioneers or sometimes two or three of those listed above on the same night. Busy, busy, busy! And we love it!

So, I'm going to make myself blog more by doing this #365PhotoChallenge for 2015.  It totally means that I have to take a photograph every single day of the year and blog it.  So, instead of getting one blog a year from me, get ready to get THREE HUNDRED AND SIXTY FIVE in ONE YEAR!!!! Not only am I going to attempt the challenge, but I'm going to do every single stinking photo in black and white! I know, right?! Well, bring it on!

God bless ya'll,

Mel
